Why does my engine knock / make a pinging noise ? 1 - When going up a hill or accelerating I hear pinging from my engine Solution : Incorrect fuel grade purchased for the engine - consult owners manual for correct fuel grade, 2 - Solution : Their is a fault or problem in the fuel or elctrical system. 3 - Solution : The ignition timing is set incorrect or has moved - Reset timing to correct specifications. 4 - Solution : You have installed improper spark plugs for your vehicle - recheck and confirm that they are the correct type for your vehicle. 5 - Solution : You have worn or damaged distributror parts that need replacing - inspect and replace as needed. 6 - Solutions: Faults with emission systems can also cause this problem - check and confirm no problems with connections or inoperable componets. 7 - Solutions : Vacuum leaks from cracked or disconnected vacuum hoses - inspect and replace as neccessary. |
