How to Change a Serpentine Belt on a '95 Jeep 2.5L

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit
Do you see cracks on the belt? Don't just hope it won't leave you stranded. Replace it. Other directions I've seen do not not include all the steps, even the book I paid for.

Steps

  1. Lean over the radiator. The power steering pump is on your right.
  2. Take careful note of the routing of the old belt. There should be a diagram sticker around the fan shroud, otherwise draw a good diagram.
  3. Loosen the 3 bolts on the back of the pump bracket. Do not take them out!
  4. Loosen the small bolt underneath the pump. Under the power steering pump there it a long adjusting bolt that screws out to your right and a small bolt perpendicular to it at the front side. Loosen the small bolt to the front then screw out the bolt out to the right about 1 inch.
  5. Remove the old belt.
  6. Install the new belt with exact same routing.
  7. Screw the long bolt back in under the PS pump to obtain proper belt tension. You should use a belt tension gauge.
  8. Tighten the 3 bolts on the back of the PS pump and the one bolt under the PS pump that is to the front.
